뉴욕한의대 (NYCTCM)

New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine

NYCTCM은 1996년 치초우(Dr. Chi Chow)에 의해 설립된 전통중국한의대로서 뉴욕 롱아일랜드 미네올라에 있으며 맨하탄에도 강의실이 있다. 2001년 11월에 뉴욕주교육국의 교육인가를 받았으며, 이어서 2003년 4월에는 같은 기관으로부터 정식 학사학위와 석사학위 인가도 받았다. 이에 앞서 2002년 5월에 침구 및 동양의학협회(ACAOW)로부터도 인정을 받았다. 현재 학생수는 200여명이며 졸업후에는 미국 전역에서 한방진료와 한의원을 개업할 수 있다. 

강의는 주말과 저녁 시간으로 직장인들도 수업이 가능하다. 학기는 1년에 3학기, 겨울학기는 2009년 1월 5일 시작한다. 전 교수진은 중국 한의대 출신으로 구성되어 있다.

이 학교는 우리 교회에서 한 블락 떨어져 있다 (약 50미터).

2. 학위과정

학사/석사 (3년) : 침술학 (Health Science/Acupuncture Program)

학사/석사 (4년) : 동양의학 (Health Science/Oriental Medicine Program) 

3. 학사일정

미국은 보통 2학기제(Semester)이며 4학기제(Quarter)도 있지만, 이 학교는 3학기제(Trimester)이며, 학기는 매년 9월(가을학기), 1월(겨울학기) 그리고 5월(봄학기)에 시작된다. 

4. 입학자격

① NYCTCM에서 공부할 학업성취 능력을 보여주어야 함

② 미국 정부에서 인정한 대학이나 교육기관에서 최소 60학점이상(평점 2.5이상) 이수한 자

③ 만 18세 이상

④ 합법적 신분을 가진 자 (시민권, 영주권, 혹은 유효 체류비자 소지) 

1) 영어구사능력

외국인은 영어구사능력을 보여주어야 함 (다음 3가지 중 하나이상)

① 미국 혹은 영어를 표준어로 사용하는 나라의 대학에서 1년(30학점)이상 공부한 내용증명

② 뉴욕주 전문인 자격증 소지자 (치과의, 척추교정의, 물리치료사, 간호사, 영양사, 의사보조, 약사 등등)

③ TOEFL(IBT) 61점 이상 혹은 잉 준하는 일반 TOEFL 성적. NYCTCM 자체 영어시험에서 500점 이상 (450이상은 조건부 입학) 

2) 조건부 입학

대학에서 51학점 이상 이수했으나 영어구사 능력이 떨어진 사람은 ESL을 병행
